EIFS is short for Exterior Insulation and Finish
System,
also known under the names of Synthetic Plaster, Synthetic Stucco,
Softcoat Stucco, Softcoat Plaster.
EIFS is a non-loadbearing multi-layered exterior wall systems,
that provide an exterior finish for the building, and protect
the wall structure underneath.
EIFS consist of a layer of insulation board covered
with a durable, water resistant base coat reinforced
with fiberglass mesh, and a colorfast and crack resistant
finish coat, which comes in many colors and textures.
EIFS are used on both commercial buildings and homes,
because they provide superior energy efficiency and
offer much greater design flexibility than other cladding products.
We prefer using Dryvit,
Parex,
Acrocrete and
Sto products.
Stucco or Plaster is in fact Portland Cement Plaster.
Stucco is an inexpensive exterior finish that is tough,
long lasting, abuse and impact resistant, which performs very well
in a wide variety of climates, enduring wet-dry and freeze-thaw cycles
and also the extreme desert heat. Used for centuries in Europe,
these qualities made stucco a global standard in cladding materials.
Stucco consists of three layers: scratch coat, brown coat and
finish coat, which is usually applied over paper backed metal lath.
The finish coat comes in the color desired by the customer.
Scratch coat and brown coat are a mixture of Portland cement,
lime, sand, water, and also glass fibers and sometimes additives.
Glass fibers are used to make the stucco crack resistant.
The finish coat may be of the same materials, or acrylic.
We also install Stone: Stone Veneer and Stone Flooring,
using natural or cultured, i.e. artificial stone.
